  • The effort to develop a complex commercial opportunity in the oil and gas industry (or other industries) is typically organized as a project. That needs to be skillfully managed to achieve the objectives agreed with the sponsor(s) and stakeholders.

    This course will address all major issues in the development and specification of an oil & gas development, from reservoir to product delivery to client and will assist participants to develop their technical and management knowledge in preparation for a (senior) project engineering role.

  • 1. To demonstrate awareness of the main principles of Project Management.
    2. To apply this awareness in their daily activities.
    3. To be aware of the stages which will make a succesfull project
    4. To be aware of the governance structure assuring delivery
    5. To be aware of opportunity framing, investment decisions, project organization, discipline authorities and assurance framework
    6. To be aware of the realisation of a capital project and the deliverables of each phase
    7. To be aware of the initiation and execution of a project
    8. To be aware of risk management, project services, value assurance, contracting and procurement
    9. To be aware of quality assurance, health safety environment, process safety, management of change

    NOTE: Objectives for each day will be discussed with the participants and will be verified at closure of each day.

        b) to determine if any adjustments need to be made to the program of the following day (if relevant)

  • This training event is designed for staff in functions who govern Capital Projects from identification of an opportunity up to start-up of the resulting facility.
    Participants will achieve an “Awareness / Basic Appreciation” level.

    NOTE:

    In order to achieve a “Skill” level, further practical learning through
    e.g. On-the-Job training or participation in projects and/or assignments is required

    Although the course is aimed at a “Knowledge” (Understand) level, practical exercises and case studies will form an integral part of the learning process.

  • The objectives and modules of the training course “Project Management” are directly linked to the Competence Assurance Programme (CAP) as developed by SOGOS Academy.     40 years experience in E&P professional/leadership roles; of which 27 years within the Shell group:

    • Engineering and Project Management experience in Oil & Gas treatment-, delivery- and associated utility systems, Utility/Civil Buildings and associated utility systems
    • Technical Evaluation and Commercial negotiation skills.
    • Heath, Safety, Environment management skills.
    • Overseas experiences in Saudi Arabia, USA and Oman.
    • Business Process Reengineering and SAP R/3 implementation knowledge.
    • Quality Assurance systems skills.
